Richard Malmgren Long-Lining

Saturday, March 23rd and Sunday, March 24th 2024
TIME: 8:30am

We are so excited to be welcoming Richard Malmgren for the second time to Equestrian Events. Clinic will be held in the dressage arena.

Sessions are $200/each, preference given to horses participating both days. Auditing is $25/day including lunch. Please contact Kate Wallace at (630) 485-0961 for more information.

A native of Sweden, Richard has been riding since age 7. In 1996, he relocated to the US to work with Scott Hassler at Hilltop Farm. In 2007, he moved with the Hasslers to help launch Riveredge, a world class training center in Maryland. Throughout his career, Richard has trained extensively with world renowned long rein expert Bo Jena of Sweden. In 2011 he married Jessica Jo Tate, an international Grand Prix rider. In 2013, Richard launched his own training business focused on long reining clinics, sport horse marketing, and photography.

Long-lining has many benefits to the horse, aiding in both straightness and strength building. It is a snapshot of the training, so it shows you a mirror of what is happening under saddle. This helps you see the horse in its raw self; what it has the ability and strength to do without a rider on its back. Richard talks as he long-lines each horse, explaining what he sees and feels.
